Offered in partnership between TakingITGlobal and Microsoft Partners in Learning, DeforestACTION is a global movement of youth and schools taking action to stop deforestation and create a permanent habitat for orangutans and other species that depend on forest ecosystems. This global learning project is currently focused on the forests of Indonesia, where widespread illegal deforestation has made the country the world’s third biggest emitter of greenhouse gases. Since 2010, DeforestACTION has connected over 17,000 youth and students around the world learn more about, and collaborate across borders, to address the pressing issue of deforestation.

These resources are designed to incorporate a variety of social media and online technology tools, allowing students to become empowered by taking real action on the planet they will inherit while cultivating 21st century skills like teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking.
